Privacy enhancing technology for a 3D-face recognition system

چکیده
2D Face images are traditionally used in civil governmental applications. An extension from 2D to 3D images will lead to several advantages when setting up automated authentication systems. However, privacy concerns of storing face images on smart cards or in databases will inhibit the acceptance of such systems. In this paper we concentrate on privacy enhancing technologies for biometric informationwherewe focus on 3D face images. The feature vectors are obtained using a histogram-based approach and the privacy protected templates are generated based on fuzzy extractors. It is shown that the private face recognition system has an acceptable verification performance. Finally, it is described how the proposed system can be used in the setting of an ePassport.

Hybridization of Facial Features and Use of Multi Modal Information for 3D Face Recognition
Despite of achieving good performance in controlled environment, the conventional 3D face recognition systems still encounter problems in handling the large variations in lighting conditions, facial expression and head pose The humans use the hybrid approach to recognize faces and therefore in this proposed method the human face recognition ability is incorporated by combining global and local ...
متن کاملA Novel Privacy Enhancing Algorithm for Biometric System
Biometrics provide the possibility of unique and convenient authentication. As its application areas grow rapidly, the problems, such as identity fraud and cross matching, threaten the security of biometric systems. Moreover, privacy concerns are associated with biometrics. In this paper we focus on privacy enhancing techniques for biometric systems, which can protect biometric information and ...
متن کاملPrivacy-Preserving Face Recognition
Face recognition is increasingly deployed as a means to unobtrusively verify the identity of people. The widespread use of biometrics raises important privacy concerns, in particular if the biometric matching process is performed at a central or untrusted server, and calls for the implementation of Privacy-Enhancing Technologies. In this paper we propose for the first time a strongly privacy-en...

The objective of DARPA’s Human ID at a Distance (HID) program “is to develop automated biometric identification technologies to detect, recognize and identify humans at great distances.” While nominally intended for security applications, if deployed widely, such technologies could become an enormous privacy threat, making practical the automatic surveillance of individuals on a grand scale. Fa...
متن کامل3D Face Recognition using Patch Geodesic Derivative Pattern
In this paper, a novel Patch Geodesic Derivative Pattern (PGDP) describing the texture map of a face through its shape data is proposed. Geodesic adjusted textures are encoded into derivative patterns for similarity measurement between two 3D images with different pose and expression variations. An extensive experimental investigation is conducted using the publicly available Bosphorus and BU-3...
